positiveSOUL Records is an independently owned record label which consistently produces high quality music, tasty and stylish production. We are a small but highly experienced source for great songs with positive messages and integrity.
Our goal is to release the kind of music that people are longing to hear again. Great lyrics sung by talented singers, quality musicianship played by top musicians and exciting compositions that you'll want to play and not get tired of after 3 weeks. Our goal is to give you the music that will NOT insult your intelligence.
As you have probably gathered by now after browsing around our web site, we are a very creative group of people producing good & positive soul music.
We are an independently owned record label that is dedicated to the musical career of only one artist at this time, Al Campos. Eventually we will get more involved in making dreams come true for other talented people out there today.
positiveSOUL started in 1987 in a beautiful apartment in North Beach overlooking the fabulous city of San Francisco, CA. It was here, on 560-A Vallejo Street where Al Campos first set up his keyboards, a Roland sequencer, a Radio Shack microphone and the good old Fostex 4 track cassette recording machine. Not knowing anything about composition or production, Al began writing, or shall we say attempted to write songs in the Soul/R&B genre. We still have those master tapes and we can tell you, he sucked! BUT there was just a little something there which helped encourage Al to keep going, keep stretching out and continue to express himself through music while staring out onto the famous pyramid shaped Transamerica building.
After being located in San Francisco from 1982 - 1990, he relocated together with his Danish wife, Lone (Luna) to her country, Denmark.
That was 15 years ago and many, many songs afterwards. Now, as we embark upon the new year of 2006, Al Campos is planning to re-enter the music industry back in the United States of America with his brand new release of his FIRST Debut CD, entitled, "This Love of Mine."
Some people might think what the heck took so long? Why after so many years is it only now that positiveSOUL is finally going to release their FIRST CD? The truth be told, we simply were not ready. Sure, we have released singles, promotional CD's, and have been involved in many other artists careers, enhancing their music, adding to their successes. But it is only now that Al Campos feels 100% sure that he is now ready to enter the music recording industry at the level he has always dreamed of. To be amongst the best, the very best artists, singers and with strong songs.
Now, besides the music production thing, we've also been involved in what we like to call, "cultural fusion." We have been involved in teaching and sharing the richness of American music culture with others from different countries and cultures. Take Warsaw, Poland for example. positiveSOUL has been directly involved in teaching gospel workshops to people of all ages right there in Warsaw. Although we were sharing by teaching gospel music from the American culture, we were equally blessed to have the people of Poland share with us the richness and wonder of their Polish culture. There we all were, hundreds of people gathered to sing American gospel music, sharing our cultures with one another. That is what "cultural fusion" is all about.
We've also been involved in the LA's BEST After School Program. During the years 2000 - 2003 we sent Al Campos back to his hometown, Los Angeles to work together with the LA's BEST program to help them set up computer labs in L. A. Unified School District schools which ran the LA's BEST After School Program. That was over 100 schools.
We did not actually pay for the computers, no, we worked with the staff at each school, assisting them, finding out what their technological needs were in order to offer the children from grades K-5 the possibility of learning how to use computers for their homework and other IT needs. We visited each school, did a computer lab assessment, talked with principles to get them on board, allowing us to do what needed to be done in order to provide the computers and set up labs for the kids.
All of this falls under the positiveSOUL foundation called, "cultural fusion." A foundation focused on sharing culture, learning about new cultures, singing and making music together, helping and assisting children so that their future is a bright one, a safe one, an exciting one.
After all, we have been lucky enough to have seen and experienced many fabulous and fantastic countries, old and new cities, listened to music from musicians coming from all over the world. We have played music with these unique musicians. It all adds up to a life of experiences, opportunities and exposure.
We believe in "cultural fusion." That's why we are called, positiveSOUL.
