Founded by American musician and educator Al Campos, positiveSOUL Productions began in 1987 in a San Francisco apartment in North Beach. At 560-A Vallejo Street — with a Roland sequencer, a Radio Shack microphone, and a Fostex 4-track cassette recorder — Al took his first steps into songwriting and music production.
With no formal training, he began crafting soul and R&B songs straight from the heart, driven by passion, curiosity, and purpose.

The gear was modest — a Roland sequencer, a Radio Shack microphone, and a Fostex 4-track cassette recorder. The vision was anything but.
No formal training. Just passion, curiosity, and an unshakeable belief that the music inside him needed to come out.
From those humble beginnings, positiveSOUL Productions has evolved into a multifaceted creative force — blending music composition, production, independent record label work, education, and cultural exchange.
We are grounded in the power of lyrics, poetry, storytelling, and spiritual self-expression — always striving to use music as a tool to uplift, educate, and connect.
